Art and change
Can the arts in education make significant changes in society? If the arts in education are to play a role in transforming society and fostering more sustainable communities, arts education needs to evolve, reflecting the need to integrate technology in innovative pedagogies that promote critical thinking and the value of imagining new possibilities.
An EU-funded Erasmus + project called CARE/SS (short for 'Critical ARts Education for Sustainable Societies) involving five universities studied socially engaged arts and blended pedagogies in different European countries between 2021 and 2024. CARE/SS (KA220-HED – Cooperation partnerships in higher education. 2021-1-CY01-KA220-HED-000032127) was coordinated by Frederick University in Nicosia and involved four other institutions: the University of Malta, Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, Uniwersytet Im. Adama Mickiewicza W Poznaniu and Universitat de Barcelona.
